Originally a traditional desktop application for drawing graphs and visualizations, Tableau has been adding a lot of support for online publishing and content creation. Its embedded graphs have become very popular with news organizations on the Web, illustrating a lot of stories.
The support for geographic data isn’t as extensive as Fusion’s, but Tableau is capable of creating some map styles that Google’s product can’t produce. If you want the power user features of a desktop interface or are focused on creating graphics for professional publication, Tableau is a good choice.
